A disgruntled Thomson Holidays holidaymaker has this week described how he is still suffering from the Salmonella symptoms he contracted abroad almost 8 months ago. Ian Potter, 49 from Ramsbottom in Lancashire has described how his dream holiday to Jamaica was completely ruined after eating dodgy food at the hotel buffet. Mr Potter and his wife had hoped to visit Jamaica as a special treat to celebrate their wedding anniversary. Little did they know that holiday they had been hoping for would in fact turn into a nightmare lasting a further 8 months. Mr Potter initially fell ill whilst staying at the plush Hotel Riu Palace in the Montego Bay area of Jamaica. Mr Potter has claimed he contracted the Salmonella form of food poisoning after eating food from the hotel buffet.
Ian stated the following; “I was eating food from the evening banquet on the second night of my holiday, as I was in Jamaica I wanted to try some of the local cuisine”. “The buffet provided a selection of local specialty’s ranging from Goat Curry to Jerk Chicken”. “As I bit into a piece of chicken I noticed it was still pink inside”. “Unfortunately, by this point I had already finished off around 3 pieces which I had noticed were really undercooked”. “That evening was terrible, me and my wife had hoped for a nice romantic stroll along the beach front”. “Instead – I couldn’t keep off the toilet, the symptoms were relentless”.
A spokesperson for Thomson Holidays issued the following statement; “We are sorry to hear about Mr Potter’s ordeal at the Riu Palace in Jamaica”. “All our hotel resorts are fully inspected and audited on a regular basis, fully in line with industry regulations”. “As this case is currently going through legal proceedings – it would be inappropriate of us to go into any further detail”.
